Lukhaimane, Ramataboe appointed to GPAA Advisory Board

Two experienced and expertly qualified women have been appointed to the new Government Pensions Administration Agency (GPAA) Advisory Board.

Advocate Muvhango Lukhaimane and Maemili Ramataboe will join the rest of the Board in advising Finance Minister Nhlanhla Nene on the administration of pensions, as well as the performance, governance and operations of the GPAA, effective immediately.

Advocate Muvhango Lukhaimane

Adv Muvhango Lukhaimane, who was a Public Protector candidate in 2016, has served as the South African Pension Funds Adjudicator since June 2013.

She has had extensive knowledge in the pension fund industry, having worked as a research consultant and legal advisor to some of the major fund administrators. She also has broad and in-depth knowledge of the management and administration of public entities from the Ministry of State Security, where she managed the human resource department and chaired the Intelligent Services Council.​

Adv Lukhaimane holds a B.Luris, LLB and LLM degrees from the University of Venda, the University of Pretoria and the University of South Africa, respectively, as well as an MBA from WITS Business School.

She has also been awarded postgraduate diplomas in Management Studies and Financial Planning from Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College and the University of Free State, respectively.

Ms Maemili Ramataboe

Ms Maemili Ramataboe, who serves on the Tswane University of Technology Council, is an Independent Trustee: Liberty Corporate Umbrella Funds of the Liberty Group. She also serves as an audit committee member of the National Department of Transport and as chair of the Enterprise Risk management Committee of the Human Sciences Research Council.

Her vast experience includes Head of Commercial Finance and Treasury Manager at the Lesotho Highlands Water Project, Corporate Treasurer and Principal Officer of Shell and BP South African Refineries and Principal Officer and Accounting Officer of the Government Employee Pension Fund.

A Chartered Accountant, Ms Ramataboe has an MBA from the University of the Free State. She is an Accredited Associate of the Institute of Independent Business (United Kingdom) and sits on numerous boards.
